Answer:

Barb have 4 nickels.

Step-by-step explanation:

Tom and Barb have nickels and dimes only.

Let numbers of nickels and dimes Tom have = n and d

Let numbers of nickels and dimes Barb have = n' and d'

Both have same number of coins then equation will be

n + d = n' + d' ------(1)

Tom has same number of dimes as Barb has nickels

d = n'

By replacing d = n' in equation (1)

n + n' = n' + d'

n = d'

It has been given in the question that Barb has 75 cents and Tom has 90 cents in the form of nickels and dimes.

0.05n + 0.10d = 0.75

Dividing this equation by 0.05

n + 2d = 15-------(2)

0.05n' + 0.10d' = 0.90

By diving this equation by 0.05

n' + 2d' = 18

Since n' = d and d' = n

Then d + 2n = 18 -------(3)

Now we multiply equation (2) by 2 and subtract it by equation (3)

2(n + 2d) - (d + 2n) = 15×2 - 18

2n + 4d - d - 2n = 30 - 18

3d = 12

d = 4

Since d = n'

So n' = 4

Therefore, Barb have 4 nickels.

It's the one on the bottom left that says 5ft and 3ft, they're the same shape and ratio just turned around. It's also the square that says 6ft and 10ft because its only two times bigger than the original and has similar proportions.

Five students go through the lunch line.Each student pays $1.85 for their lunch and gets 3 cookies.The total amount paid is $20.
erastovalidia [21]

Hello there! The cost of a cookie is $0.72.

Start by multiplying the cost of lunch by 5 and subtract that from the total to get rid of the cost of lunch.

$1.85 x 5 = $9.25

$20 - $9.25 = $10.75

So, there were FIVE students and each bough THREE cookies. To find the cost for each cookie, first divide the total spent on cookies by 5 to get what each student spent on cookies, then by 3 to see how much each cookie cost.

$10.75/5 = $2.15

$2.15/3 = 0.716666667, which can be rounded to $0.72.

I hope this helps and have a great rest of your day!
