First you need to find the amount of students who voted.
80 + 160 = 240
160 students out of 240 students who voted, voted for a bulldog. To find the percentage, you need to divide 160 by 240.
160/240 = .6 repeated
You need to move the decimal over two spaces to get the percentage. So then you have 66.6666%. Since it says to round to the nearest whole percent, you need to round the number right after the decimal. 6 rounds the number before it up so you get 67.
So the amount of students that voted for a bulldog is 67%.

There are 40 boys in a computer club. The ratio of girls to boys is 2 to 5. How many girls are in the club?
Mandarinka [93]
Set up a proportion. 2/5 = x/40
to solve the equation first cross multiply.
x*5=40*2
x*5=80
now divide both sides by 5, 80 divided by 5 is equal to 16.
so the number of girls in the computer lab is 16.

Representative is paid the greater
vivado [14]

Building and solving an inequality, it is found that at a volume of sales of $11,875 he will start to earn more from the commission  based compensation.

------------------------

  • We want to find how much in dollars he has to sell such that 8% of this amount is greater than $950.
  • Supposing he sells $x, 8% of this is represented by 0.08x. We want it to be greater than $950, thus, the inequality is:

0.08x > 950

Now we solve the inequality, similarly to how we would solve an equality.

x > \frac{950}{0.08}

x > 11875

At a volume of sales of $11,875 he will start to earn more from the commission  based compensation.
