Karen age=k
suzanne age=s

karen (k) is (=) 7 years older (+7) than suzanne(s)
k=7+s

four year ago means
s-4 and k-4

four years ago (-4 to all) karen (k) was (=) twice (2 times) suzzane (s)
k-4=2(s-4)
distribute
k-4=2s-8
add 4 to both sides
k=2s-4
we know that k=7+s so subsitute 7+s for k
7+s=2s-4
add 4 to both sides
11+s=2s
subtract s from both sides
11=s

suzanne=11
subsitute 11 for s in k=s+7

k=7+11
k=18

karen=18
suzanne=11

Step-by-step explanation:

First, change the percent to a decimal.

12% = 0.12

Now, multiply the decimal by the total amount of students to find the amount of students that stay after school.

450 × 0.12 = 54

Find the distance between the points c ( 6, 5) and D(-3, 1),
svet-max [94.6K]

Answer:

see explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

Calculate the distance (d) using the distance formula

d = √ (x₂ - x₁ )² + (y₂ - y₁ )²

with (x₁, y₁ ) = (6, 5) and (x₂, y₂ ) = (- 3, 1)

d = \sqrt{(-3-6)^2+(1-5)^2}

  = \sqrt{(-9)^2+(-4)^2}

  = \sqrt{81+16}

  = \sqrt{97} ≈ 9.85 ( to 2 dec. places )
