Hello from MrBillDoesMath!

Answer:

Area =  28

Perimeter =  14 + 2 sqrt(17)

Discussion:

In our case

       b1 =  length of EH = 3 - (-3) =  3 + 3  = 6

       b2 = length of FG = 4 - (-4) = 4 + 4 = 8

       h =  2- (-2) = 2 + 2 = 4

So

Area = A = (1/2)h(b1+b2) = (1/2)(4)(6 + 8) = 2(14) = 28

Perimeter = length of EH + length FG + length of EF + length of HG

                =           6           +     8           +   ?                 +     ?

From the Pythagorean theorem

HG = sqrt ( 1^2+ 4^2) = sqrt(17)

Similarly

EF = sqrt(17)

So Perimeter =

                       6              +       8             + sqrt(17)         + sqrt(17)

                      = 14 + 2 sqrt(17)

Thank you,

MrB

Given the equation 3x - 3 = 6x + 1, select the reasoning that correctly solves for x. Add 3, subtract 3x, then divide by -3. Add

The best answer is: subtract 1, subtract 3x, then divide by 3.
Subtract 1 gives: 3x-4=6x
Subtract 3x gives: -4=3x
Divide by 3 gives: x=-4/3
None of the others work, because you either end up with the variable and the constant on the same side (can't isolate the variable!) or you end up with the wrong sign on the coefficient of the variable from what is stated (e.g., 2nd option).

Dicriminant of x² – 49 = 0
Mama L [17]

Answer:

196

Step-by-step explanation:

The discriminant (Δ) is given by:

\Delta = b^2-4ac

Where the polynomial is in the form:

ax^2+bx+c=0

In this problem, a = 1, b = 0, and c = -49. Thus, plugging it into the formula:

\Delta = 0^2-4(1)(-49) = -(-196) = 196

Thus, the discriminant of x² – 49 = 0 is 196.

WITCHER [35]

Answer:

18.8 billion dollars

Step-by-step explanation:

S - 1.7x = 5.2

x = 2006 - 1998 = 8

S - 1.7(8) = 5.2

S - 13.6 = 5.2

S = 5.2 + 13.6

S = 18.8

Perimeter = 18.9

If you observe the triangle, you can see that all of its sides are equal. They are all s, or 6.3 mm. This means that to find the perimeter of the triangle, you can do either of two things:

1. You can multiple s by 3.

2. You can add s three times.

Either way, you will get the same answer. 6.3 • 3 = 18.9, and 6.3 + 6.3 + 6.3 = 18.9

If I am understanding the question correctly, then "type" means the type of triangle this triangle is. To figure this out, look at the measurements of the triangle. All of its sides are equal in length. That means that it is an equilateral triangle.

I know some schools like students to write "equilateral acute" triangles, since all of the angles are less than 90˚. If you want to be sure, I'd contact your teacher and ask.

Hope this helps!
