Using the bomb saved lives by bringing a quick end to a war that might have gone on for years longer. It is impossible to put a

number on how many more deaths the continuing war might have caused, but there are indications. Millions had already died in the Pacific theater. Whenever US troops invaded an island, they knew the fight was to the death. In the battle for Okinawa alone, there had been almost 50,000 US casualties, while Japan had suffered some 90,000 military deaths and at least 100,000 civilian deaths. Of course, radiation continued to cause illness, misery, and death long after the bomb had been dropped.

How did England's attempts at coloinies differ from other European powers?
stiv31 [10]

Answer:

THE HISTORY OF COLONIAL NORTH AMERICA centers

primarily around the struggle of England, France, and

Spain to gain control of the continent. Settlers

crossed the Atlantic for different reasons, and their

governments took different approaches to their colonizing efforts. These differences created both advantages and disadvantages that profoundly affected the

New World’s fate. France and Spain, for instance,

were governed by autocratic sovereigns whose rule

was absolute; their colonists went to America as servants of the Crown. The English colonists, on the

other hand, enjoyed far more freedom and were able

to govern themselves as long as they followed English

law and were loyal to the king. In addition, unlike

France and Spain, England encouraged immigration

from other nations, thus boosting its colonial population. By 1763 the English had established dominance

in North America, having defeated France and Spain

in the French and Indian War. However, those

regions that had been colonized by the French or

Spanish would retain national characteristics that

linger to this day.

16. How did the State Colonization Law of 1825 change Texas during the Mexican National era?
Makovka662 [10]

Answer:

It increased the population by offering cheap land.

Explanation:

During the nineteenth century, Texas was part of Mexico. However, very few Mexicans lived there, since it was very far from the central areas of Mexico. This allowed the Comanche to control vast areas of the state, making life even harder for the few Mexican colonists.

The government of Mexico decided to populate the state with people from the U.S., and it passed the State Colonization Law of 1825, which allowed White Americans from the U.S. to settle in Texas as long as they did not bring slaves with them (slaves was forbidden in all of Mexico).

This policy was successful in bringing more people to the state, but it also set the stage for the future independence and posterior annexation of Texas to the United States.
