Hey there!!

How do we find the area of a rectangle?

<em>Length * Breadth = Area </em>

... Length * breadth = 55

Width is 6 miles less than the length.

... Width = Length - 6

______________________________________

... Length ( Length - 6 ) = 55

... Length² - 6Length = 55

... Length² - 6Length - 55 = 0

... Length² + 5Length - 11Length - 55 = 0

... Length ( Length + 5 ) - 11 ( Length + 5 ) = 0

... ( Length - 11 ) ( Length + 5 ) = 0

... We could find two solution.

They are : 11 and -5.

<em>As the values can not be in negatives, the appropriate length would be '11'</em>

Length = 11

Breadth = Length - 6

... Breadth = 11 - 6

... Breadth = 5

<em>Hence, the Length = 11 and the Breadth = 5 </em>

Hope my answer helps!

area = width * length

or

A = W * L

55 = W * (W+6)

solve for width:

0 = W^2 + 6W - 55

this is a quadratic and has two solutions -11 and 5

a length can only be non-negative so discard -11.

width W = 5 miles

now the length is 5+6 = 11 miles

A chameleon is looking for prey. Let positive numbers represent the elevation of prey above the chameleon and negative numbers r
alexira [117]

Answer:

B: The elevation of the chameleon

Step-by-step explanation:

The Fly is <em><u>above</u></em> the chameleon, so its elevation should be represented by a "positive number"(Example of positive number: 16)

Also,

The Grasshopper is <em><u>below </u></em>the chameleon, so its elevation should be represented by a "negative number"(Example of negative number: -23)

Solve this problem please <br> x/3+6-2x=-6
Nikolay [14]

Answer:

36/5

Step-by-step explanation:

x/3 + 6 -2x = -6

multiply the whole equation by 3 to get rid of the denominator of the first x term.

x+18-6x = -18

move x terms to one side and numerical terms to the other, subtract 18 from both sides in this case

x+18-6x-18=-18-18

x-6x = -36

simplify

-5x = -36

divide both sides by -5 to isolate x

x = -36/-5

=36/5

Can anybody tell me the answers to number 1, 2 &amp; 3 ???!!!!
Novay_Z [31]

Problem 1

Domain = {-1, -3, 2, 1}

Range = {5, 0, 2}

The domain is the set of possible inputs and the range is the set of possible outputs. This is a function because each input goes to exactly one output.

========================================

Problem 2

This is a function as well. We do not have any input going to multiple outputs.

Domain = {-2, -3, 5}

Range = {6, 7, 8}

========================================

Problem 3

This is not a function. The input -4 goes to more than one output (outputs 3 and -1 at the same time)

Domain = {-4, -2, 0}

Range = {3, -1, -2, 4}
