Polynomial equation is an expression that consists of coefficients and variables and involves the basic operations like subtraction, addition, division and multiplication. An example of a polynomial equation would be x^2+4x +4. The roots of a polynomial that are the values of x that would make the expression equal to zero. To determine the roots, there are multiple ways to do this. One would be by factoring. It involves the breaking up of a polynomial into terms that are simpler so that when they are multiplied again, it would be equal to the original expression. For the given example, we factor as follows:
x^2+4x +4
(x+2)(x+2)
Therefore, the roots are -2 and -2.

Sally's income per month is $1500. She wants to create a budget to be able to afford everything. How much can she spend on "fun"
Gnom [1K]

Answer:

450$

Step-by-step explanation:

So lets add otgether everything that she NEEDS to buy, to see how much of 1500$ she can use on what she WANTS to buy.

So:

500+50+100+100+300

=

1050

This is the total cost of what she NEEDS to buy

Now lets subtract this from her income:

1500-1050

=

450

So we now know that the amount of money she has left to spend on what she WANTS is 450$

Hope this helps! :)

Determine the vertex and the axis of symmetry for the function below: y=x^2+4x+1
jok3333 [9.3K]
\bf \textit{ vertex of a vertical parabola, using coefficients}\\\\
\begin{array}{llccll}
y = &{{ 1}}x^2&{{ +4}}x&{{ +1}}\\
&\uparrow &\uparrow &\uparrow \\
&a&b&c
\end{array}\qquad
\left(-\cfrac{{{ b}}}{2{{ a}}}\quad ,\quad  {{ c}}-\cfrac{{{ b}}^2}{4{{ a}}}\right)

the squared variable is the "x", thus is a vertical parabola, thus, the axis of symmetry will occur over the x-coordinate of the vertex, and thus will be   \bf x=-\cfrac{{{ b}}}{2{{ a}}}

A truck driver is traveling from Sacramento to Reno. After 1 hour, the driver is 84 miles from Reno. After 2 hours, the driver is 36 miles from Reno. Write the linear function that relates the time x in hours since leaving Sacramento to the driver’s distance y in miles from Reno. Explain the meaning of the slope and y-intercept in this situation.

Natali [406]

Answer:

a) draw the triangle using the graph points

b) move the triangle 3 points to the left and 1 point down

c) translation

d) draw this shape

e) write down the coordinates

Step-by-step explanation:

The x-3 in translation tells you to move 3 squares to the left along the x axis in translation and y-1 tells you to move down one on the y axis.

Sammi bought 2dozen valentines. How many valentines did sammi have left after giving 7/8 of them to her classmates
Ierofanga [76]
Dozen = 12

2 dozen

2x12=24

7/8 of 24
