Answer:

There are countless ways in which geography affects people. It is a key factor in influencing the way of life of people in a given region. Local resources determine the food people eat which in turn influences the overall health and nutrition of a population. Sure, food from other regions is often imported, but often a region's cuisine is determined by what is readily and affordably available and what has been traditionally consumed for generations.

Natural resources of a geographic area also play a role in the local economy. For instance, a region with ample petroleum reserves can grow wealthy off of this by exporting it to regions that lack such reserves. Take a look at the United Arab Emirates, for instance. A century ago, this country was little more than a backwater. Then, after the global need for petroleum surged, it has steadily grown into one of the wealthiest nations on the planet.

Strategic geographic locations also affect the people who live there. The tiny nation of Singapore is wealthy because it lies along an important shipping route. The Poles have endured repeated invasions and conquests because they inhabit a country with few natural defensive barriers in between other strong nations.

Geography plays a part in someone's relationship with the physical environment. Rising ocean levels are threatening to displace people who live in low lying coastal areas. People who live in temperate climates must adapt to changing seasons several times a year while those in the tropics do not.

Sometimes being situated near many other cultures affects the culture of the place itself. The island of Taiwan, for instance, has been influenced by the Chinese and Japanese as a result of various conquests and migrations which has given it a culture all its own. On the other hand, more isolated peoples in places like far-flung Polynesian islands or Madagascar have developed cultures more endemic to their location.

Many more examples could be given considering that geography is a vast field with a multitude of ramifications. Suffice it to say, that nobody on earth is immune from the influence of their geography.

Karolina [17]

Answer:

Yes, average does represent the centre of this data.

Average = 15.9

Step-by-step explanation:

As this question is not complete and not correctly written. Let's try to find an answer for this question.

Total number of Students = 20 = n

and we are given this data:

14, 15, 17, 18, 16.

which is just five entries and total number of students are 20. 15 entries are missing in this questions. So, let's add our own values into this question.

New set of entries for 20 students.

1. 14

2. 15

3. 17

4. 18

5. 16

6. 19

7. 17

8. 16

9. 17

10. 17

11. 15

12. 20

13. 14

14. 17

15. 18

16. 19

17. 13

18. 20

19. 17

20. 16

So, let's calculate the average of these numbers.

Average = Sum of all entries/ Total number of entries.

Average = 318/20

Average = 15.9

So, the average age of all the students of class is 15.9.

Let's calculate median:

For median , data must be arranged in a order from least to greatest number. Median is a number from that data which is at half way. In case of odd numbers, it is easy to identify median because there is only one number. and in case of even numbers, median is the average of the two middle numbers. So, here we have even numbers and median is the average of two middle numbers = 17 + 17/2 = 17

Median = 17

Yes, average does represent the centre of this data.

The perimeter of Dawna's new flat screen television is 112 inches. The ratio of its length to width is 4:3. Wire and solve an al
Dmitry_Shevchenko [17]
Hey there,
Length = 4x
Width = 3x
Perimeter = 112 inches
4x + 3x + 4x + 3x = 112 inches
14x = 112 inches
x = 112 inches / 14
   = 8 inches
Length = 8 inches x 4
            = 32 inches
Width = 8 inches x 3
          = 24 inches

 Hope this helps :))

The function f(x) = x2 + 6x + 3 is transformed such that g(x) = f(x − 2). Find the vertex of g(x).
garri49 [273]

Answer:

(-1,-6)

Step-by-step explanation:

f(x)=x^2+6x+3

g(x)=f(x-2)

g(x)=(x-2)^2+6(x-2)+3  (Replaced x in f with (x-2))

g(x)=x^2-4x+4+6x-12+3 (Used (x+b)^2=x^2+2bx+b^2 and distributive property)

g(x)=x^2-4x+6x+4-12+3 (Gathered like terms)

g(x)=x^2+2x-5  (Simplified)

The vertex of a parabola occurs at (\frac{-b}{2a},g(\frac{-b}{2a}).

Let's find \frac{-b}{2a} first.

\frac{-2}{2(1)}=-1

Now we can obtain g(\frac{-b}{2a}) which is g(-1) in this case:

g(x)=x^2+2x-5

g(-1)=(-1)^2+2(-1)-5

g(-1)=1-2-5

g(-1)=-1-5

g(-1)=-6.

The vertex is (-1,-6).

Answer:

p=0.25

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that a club can select one member to attend a conference. All of the club officers want to attend. There are a total of four officers, and their designated positions within the club are President (P), Vice dash President (Upper V )comma Secretary (Upper S )comma nbspand Treasurer (Upper T ).

Sample space would be

a){ {P}, {V}, {S} {T}} is the sample space with notations standing for as given in the question

b) Each sample is equally likely. Hence we have equal chances for selecting any one out of the four.

If probability of selecting a particular sample of size I is p, the by total probability axiom we have

\begin{gathered}4p =1\\p =0.25\end{gathered}

4p=1
