<u>Answer:</u>

<u>\frac {3} {8}</u>

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

Maria ate a quarter of a whole pie = \frac{1}{4}

Left over pie = 1 - \frac {1} {4} = \frac {3} {4}

Edwin ate 1/3 of what was left = \frac {1} {4} * \frac {3} {4} = \frac {3} {16}

Left over pie = \frac{3}{4} - \frac{3}{16} =\frac{9}{16}

Cristina ate 1/3 of what was left = \frac{1}{3}*\frac{9}{16}=\frac{3}{16}

Left over pie = \frac{9}{16} - \frac {3} {16} = \frac {6} {16} = \frac {3} {8}

After Martha ate 1/4 of the pie there is 3/4 left.

Edwin ate 1/4 of 3/4.

so multiply 1/4 and 3/4 ---> 1/4*3/4=3/16

to find the leftover subtract 3/16 from 3/4

3/4-3/16

12/16-3/16=9/16

Christina ate 1/3 of 9/16

multiply 1/3 by 9/16

1/3*9/16=3/16

find the leftover by subtracting 3/16 from 9/16

9/16-3/16=6/16

divide by 2

3/8

Can anyone help me with these two questions
lozanna [386]
Hi there!

The linear equation would be y = 3x + 11. This is because the slope is 3, found by using the formula (y2-y1 / x2-x1). Then, we can plug in the slope and a point into y=mx+b form. Next, we can plug in 0 for x and 0 for y to figure out if the line goes through the point (0,0). Doing this, we discover that the line does not go through the point (0,0).

Hope this helps!! :)

Lisa [10]

Answer:

16 packages

Step-by-step explanation:

5 2/5 + 2 1/4  Use the common denominator of 20

5 8/20 + 2 5/20

7  13/20

I know that I will need 14 packages for the 7 pounds.  For the fraction part, 10/20 would be half, so I would need to buy a half pound for that, but I need 13/20 which would be more than a half pound, so I will need to buy 2 more pounds for the fraction part.

14 + 2 = 16
