The pyramid of biomass represents a range of food webs found in one trophic level

A pyramid of biomass refers to graphical representation of biomass that is present per unit area of all the various trophic levels of the ecosystem.

Further Explanation

The graphical representation shows the relationship between biomass and trophic level that quantify the biomass that is present in each trophic level of energy community at a given period of time.

There are two types of pyramid of biomass, they include

 • Inverted pyramid of biomass
 • The upright pyramid of biomass

Inverted pyramid of biomass: a very good example of inverted pyramid can be seen in a case of pond ecosystem, where major producers in the ecosystem (mass of phytoplankton) will be lower than the mass of heterotrophs, such as insects.

The upright pyramid: The first thing on the upright pyramid is the producers, such as plants. The plants are present at the bottom level of the pyramid and followed by consumers.

Within the pyramid, the highest level is occupied by the carnivores; they are the lowest quantified amount of biomass. In upright pyramid the total weight of the producers is far more than when the weights of all the consumers are combined.

However, the main issues with the pyramid of biomass are that every trophic level of the pyramid seems to have more energy than it does.

Which is represented by the biomass pyramid is C.

The total number of organisms in each trophic level.

Further explanation

The biomass pyramid describes the total weight of the organism that occupies each trophic level. This serves to describe the mass mix of all organisms in a particular habitat and is measured in grams. The biomass pyramid is a pyramid that describes the total dry weight or mass, calorific value, or other measures in the total number of living organisms from each trophic level within a certain time period in an ecosystem.

The biomass pyramid is based on the measurement of individual weight or mass per square meter at each trophic level expressed in units of grams / m square. How to measure biomass, namely by measuring the average weight of organisms at each trophic level, then the number of organisms at each trophic level is estimated. To avoid habitat destruction, usually, only a few samples are taken, then the total of all the bombs is calculated. Through this method of measurement, we will get more accurate information about the condition of the ecosystem.

In general, the average mass of a producer is greater than the average mass of the consumer, and the shape of the pyramid sharply narrows from the producer (the trophic base) to the carnivore (the top-level trophic part). However, in contrast to aquatic ecosystems, the biomass pyramid shape is reversed because consumer biomass is greater than producers.

A. The sun heats the air at the equator, followed by hot air rising and moisture condensing
ira [324]

Answer:

B. Air moves towards the poles as it cools

Explanation:

The image represent convection cell or Hadley cell is a natural phenomenon in the atmosphere that occur due to difference in the density within a body of liquid or gas. These differences in density causes rise and fall in currents.

The process in step A refers to when hot air moves up and in the step B, the hot air encounters a cold surface, it direct exchange the heat with cold surface and the air cools down and move towards the poles.

Hence, the correct answer is "B. Air moves towards the poles as it cools".
