Jackson used the process of completing the square to solve the equation 2x2−12x=−6.
Nikolay [14]

Answer:

x=3-\sqrt{6},x=3+\sqrt{6}

Step-by-step explanation:

we are given equation as

2x^2-12x=-6

Since, we have to solve it by using complete square

so, firstly we will complete square

and then we can solve for x

step-1:

Factor 2 from both sides

2(x^2-6x)=-3\times 2

step-2:

Simplify it

x^2-6x=-3

step-3:

Add both sides 3^2

x^2-6x+3^2=-3+3^2

now, we can complete square

(x-3)^2=6

step-4:

Take sqrt both sides

(x-3)=-\sqrt{6},(x-3)=\sqrt{6}

step-5:

Add both sides by 3

we get

x=3-\sqrt{6},x=3+\sqrt{6}

What is the slope of the line through points (0,6) and (5,-4)
anastassius [24]
The slope between the points (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) is
slope=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

(0,6) and (5,-4)
x1=0
y1=6
x2=5
y2=-4

slope=(-4-6)/(5-0)=-10/5=-2
slope=-2

Boating: A paddleboat moves at a rate of 12 mph in still water. If the rover’s current moves at a rate of 3 mph, how long will i
Lostsunrise [7]

The time taken by the boat to travel 32 miles downstream is 2.1 hours and for upstream 3.56 hours.

<h3>What is speed?</h3>

Speed is defined as the ratio of the time distance traveled by the body to the time taken by the body to cover the distance.

Given that:-

  • A paddleboat moves at a rate of 12 mph in still water. If the rover’s current moves at a rate of 3 mph.
  • how long will it take the boat to travel 36 miles downstream and 36 miles upstream?

The time taken by the boat upstream will be calculated as:-

( B + W ) Td = D

( 12 + 3 ) Td = 32

( 15 ) Td = 32

Td = 32 / 15 = 2.1 hours

The time taken by the boat downstream will be calculated as:-

( B - W ) Tu = D

( 12 - 3 ) Tu = 32

9 Tu = 32

Tu = 32 / 9 = 3.56 hours.

Therefore the time taken by the boat to travel 32 miles downstream is 2.1 hours and for upstream 3.56 hours.

How can I find the volume of a cone 9 radius and 18 height
Anastasy [175]

Answer:

V = 486\pi, or approx. 1,526.814

Step-by-step explanation:

V = \pi*r²*(h/3)

plug in the numbers: V = \pi * (9)² * (18/3)

simplify: V = \pi * 81 * 6

simplify: V = 486\pi, or approx. 1,526.814
