Emergency vehicles are motor vehicles set up by public authorities for certain purposes, such as policing, fire rescue, rescue, traffic enforcement and ambulances. Because of this, some traffic rules must be followed for these vehicles.
Emergency vehicles have priority traffic over other users, enjoy free movement, parking and stopping when in emergency service and properly identified by regulatory sound alarm devices and flashing red lighting. In addition, it is illegal to follow 300 feet from any emergency vehicle answering an emergency call.
