In any negative exponent problem all you do is flip the number(s) and or variable(s).
Ex: (7x)^-1 ----> 1 over 7x or 1/7x
Ex: (5/8x)^-1 ------> 8x over 5 or 8x/5

If line segment AB is a diameter and is at right angles to line segment CD, what is the ratio of CD to DE?
DedPeter [7]
The answer to this is 2.

There are a number of proofs to this. Here, we use Euclidean geometry with trigonometry. If we let the center of the circle to be O.
Then, we have the following equations for the angles
CEO = OED = 90

Since, CO = OD because they're radii of the circle, then
ΔCOD is an isosceles triangle and
OCE = ODE

CE + DE = CD
dividing the whole equation by DE
CE/DE + 1 = CD/DE

Using trigonometric functions:
CE = OC cos OCE and
DE = OD cos ODE

Substituting.
OC cos OCE / OD cos ODE + 1 = CD/DE

Since, OCE = ODE,
cos OCE = cos ODE

The equation would be reduced to:
1 + 1 = CD/DE
CD/DE =2

The area of a rectangle with width x and length 6x and 6x^2. What does the coefficient 6 mean in terms of the problem?
sveta [45]

Answer:

The coefficient 6 in 6x means 6(x) or 6 multiplied by x 6 times.

Step-by-step explanation:

X could be anything, it is only holding the place of a number. The coefficient 6  before the x is a number being multiplied by the unknown variable, x. For example if x = 2 the expression would turn into 6(2) which equals 12.

Hope this helps! If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask me or your teacher so you can be sure to master the subject. :)

area of triangle AED= \frac{1}{2} AE x DE

How I got this answer:-

Area of a triangle is \frac{1}{2} base x altitude.

Here, the base of the triangle is DE

And its altitude is AE

Hence, the area would be:-
