Answer:

V=477.5in^3

Step-by-step explanation:

The volume of a cylinder can be calculated using the formula;

V=\pi r^2h

where the radius is half of the diameter of the circle.

r=\frac{8}{2} =4in.

The height of the cylinder is

h=9\frac{1}{2}=\frac{19}{2}in.

We substitute the values into the formula to obtain;

V=\pi\times 4^2\times \frac{19}{2}

V=477.5in^3

correct to the nearest tenth

Answer:

V=152\pi in^{2} in terms or pi

V=477.52in^{2} simplified

Step-by-step explanation:

To solve this, we are using the Cylinder's volume formula:

V=\pi r^{2} h

where

V is the volume of the cylinder

r is the radius of the cylinder

Remember that radius is half the diameter, so we can divide the diameter of our cylinder by 2 to find its radius: r=\frac{d}{2} =\frac{8in}{2} =4in. Now, 9 1/2 inches is 9 and a half inches, so h=9.5in.

Replacing values:

V=\pi (4in)^{2} (9.5in)

V=\pi (16in^{2})(9.5in)

V=152\pi in^{2}

V=477.52in^{2}

We can conclude that the volume of our cylinder is V=152\pi in^{2} in terms of pi, or V=477.52in^{2} simplified.

What is the exact area of a circle with a diameter of 10 cm? a. 5πcm^2 b. 10πm^2 c. 25πcm^2 d. 100πcm^2
dalvyx [7]

Answer:

C

Step-by-step explanation:

a=\pir^2

To find the radius, divide the diameter by 2

r=d/2

r=10/2

r=5

a=\pir^2

a=\pi5^2

a=25\pi

So, choice C is correct

Hope this helps! :)

Why does a radical function with an even index only appear on one sode of the x-axis while a radical woth an odd index appears o
Vladimir79 [104]

Consider the equation y = x^2. No matter what x happens to be, the result y will never be negative even if x is negative. Example: x = -3 leads to y = x^2 = (-3)^2 = 9 which is positive.

Since y is never negative, this means the inverse x = sqrt(y) has the right hand side never be negative. The entire curve of sqrt(x) is above the x axis except for the x intercept of course. Put another way, we cannot plug in a negative input into the square root function for this reason. This similar idea applies to any even index such as fourth roots or sixth roots.

Meanwhile, odd roots such as a cube root has its range extend from negative infinity to positive infinity. Why? Because y = x^3 can have a negative output. Going back to x = -3 we get y = x^3 = (-3)^3 = -27. So we can plug a negative value into the cube root to get some negative output. We can get any output we want, negative or positive. So the range of any radical with an odd index is effectively the set of all real numbers. Visually this produces graphs that have parts on both sides of the x axis.
