John Marshall served as Chief Justice during the earliest years of the United States, from 1801 to 1835. His opinions and actions made the Judicial branch a coequal branch of government along with legislative and executive branches. Marshall is best known for confirming the supremacy of federal law over state law. His views are in deep contrast to Thomas Jefferson’s party Republicans, who wants stronger state law in the expense of federal government. In the Marbury v. Madison, Marshall stated that the Supreme Court has the authority to judge whether or not actions of the President or the Congress are within the powers granted to them by the U.S Constitution. This deeply angered Jefferson, who thought that was the job of the Presidency. Marshall not only firmly established the Judiciary, but also gave the Federal government strong powers that gave standard to the new nation.

Anni [7]

Answer:

It led to the collapse of the military power that had held the Soviet Union together, causing the union to dissolve.

Explanation:

Mikhail Gorbachev reforms in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe lead to the collapse of communism. Gorbachev promoted a new policy called glasnost. He promoted the democratization of society hoping for the participation of ordinary citizens. Gorbachev withdrew the Soviet army from Afghanistan. He released Eastern Europe from Soviet domination, permitting the dismissal of the Warsaw Pact, the Soviet military alliance in the area and stopped nuclear testing.
