Parenthetical citations are not needed when the direct quotation is common knowledge.

Things that fall into the category of common knowledge are proverbs or well-known quotations. "To be or not to be" would not be cited because it is part of common knowledge. "A rising tide lifts all ships" is a proverb that would not be cited. Parenthetical citations are used to identify the source of the quotation. They typically include the author's last name and page number (if available). If the author's name is unknown, the title of the work is used. When the author and/or title of the work has been stated in the introduction to the quote, then only a page number would be needed.

Read this sentence from an advertisement:
balandron [24]

Answer:

C. Peaceful

Explanation:

To answer this question we need to understand why some words feel more positive and some more negative. What influences the words?

The words have denotation and connotation; these are two different meanings of a word.

The denotation of a word is its explicit or direct meaning. The connotation of a word refers to a meaning that is implied by a word apart from its direct meaning. Words can have cultural and emotional associations or meanings.

Also, the words can have positive or negative connotations; it depends on the social, cultural, and personal experiences.

So, keeping this in mind, we can say that the word 'boring' has a negative connotation. It gives us an impression of something annoying and dull.

From the given options:

 • the word 'stale' has a negative connotation. It is something unsympathetic.
 • the word 'monotonous' has a negative connotation. It gives an impression of something boring and dull as well.
 • the word 'lifeless' has a negative connotation. It is something unalive, dead, inanimate.
 • only the word 'peaceful' has a positive connotation. It gives an impression of something good, calm and without worrying.

I hope it helped you :)
