How can I do ratios? I’ve been having a lot of trouble with this in my math class, and really need some help.

If you have a fraction, take one number and put a different number on top or underneath, for example if you have 2 cats and 3 dogs, the ratio from cats to dogs would be 2:3 but if you did 2 cats to the total number of animals, you would add 2 and 3 and get 5, so the ratio would be 2:5.

Let X the random variable that represent the  scores on the LSAT of a population, and for this case we know the distribution for X is given by:

X \sim N(150.7,10.2)  

Where \mu=150.7 and \sigma=10.2

We want to find a value a, such that we satisfy this condition:

P(X>a)=0.65   (a)

Both conditions are equivalent on this case. We can use the z score again in order to find the value a.  

As we can see on the figure attached the z value that satisfy the condition with 0.35 of the area on the left and 0.65 of the area on the right it's z=-0.385. On this case P(Z<-0.385)=0.35 and P(Z>-0.385)=0.65

If we use condition (b) from previous we have this:

And if we solve for a we got
