House of Burgesses: This was the first representative government and gave ideas for a national level representative government
Roger Williams: He founded Rhode Island for the sake of religious freedom from the Puritans. Gave the new government ideas for religious freedom
John Lock: He had the belief that people had certain rights and that the government should protect those right. Inspired the need for a bill of rights and such
First Great Awakening: General idea is that this helped people start to think for themselves and to not rely on the church to make all choices but the people can think on their own too.
Although America fought in many wars since, World War 2 was the last time the nation declared war (actually against two nations at the time). One declaration of war with Japan, and one declaration of war with Germany. I hope this helped !!
