For this problem, I believe you can use the Pythagorean Theorem

The Pythagorean Theorem is a^2 + b^2 = c^2

Because you are looking for the hypotenuse, you should be able to plug the numbers in that way.

9^2 + 15^2 = c^2
81 + 225 = c^2
306 = c^2
Find the square root for 306 (Its going to be a multi-decimal number)

x = 17.5 (when rounded to nearest tenth)
x = 17 (when rounded to the nearest whole number)

4. The first two numbers in a sequence are 3, 9.
UkoKoshka [18]

The next two terms in the arithmetic progression will be 15 and 21.

Based on the information given, the following can be deduced.

First term = 3

Second term = 9

Common difference = 9 - 3 = 6

The nth term of an arithmetic progression is given as: = a + (n-1)d

Therefore, 3rd term = a + 2d = 3 + 2(6) = 3 + 12 = 15

4th term = a + 3d = 3 + 3(6) = 3 + 18 = 21

The next 2 terms are 15 and 21.

In a bag of apples there are 4 green apples and 2 red apples. Bethany takes a green apple out of the bag and does not replace it
Aneli [31]

Answer:2/5 = 40%

Step-by-step explanation:

Bethany already one green apple out, and we have 3 green apples and 2 red ones, so, if we want to know what is the probability that the second apple is red we will apply the follow formula: x/n, being X the favorable cases and n the total of cases, in this problem X is 2, because we want to now the RED apples, and N is the total of apples, being n = 2 red apples + 3 green apples = 5, the formula now looks like this: 2/5=? , we resolve it by doing the division and multiplying for 100, (2/5)100 =40 and now we add a % symbol, (2/5)100=40%, and that´s the answer!
