If Y=2x+5 and Y=1/2x-1 what is the solution?

Mathematics

2x + 5 = 0.5x - 1

(Multiplying by 2 cause I hate fractions/decimals)

4x + 10 = x - 2

3x + 10 = -2

3x = -12

x = -4

Y = 2x + 5

Y = 2(-4) + 5

Y = -8 + 5

Y = -3

Y = 0.5x - 1

Y = 0.5(-4) - 1

Y = -2 - 1

Y = -3

pls help for 15 points asap Phil traveled with his family by car. They started their trip from Lexington to Louisville, driving
victus00 [196]

Given that Phil traveled with his family by car. They started their trip from Lexington to Louisville, driving directly west for 60 miles.

So AB=60

They then turned North, driving to Indianapolis which is 100 miles from Lexington.

So AC=100

Then, they turned to the West again, and drove to Decatur which which is 170 straight miles from Louisville.

so BD=170

Now we have to find about how many miles did they cover in total driving from Lexington to Decatur.

That means we have to find length of (AB+BC+CD)

We can use Pythogorean theorem to find the values of BC and CD.

BC=\sqrt{AC^2-AB^2}=\sqrt{100^2-60^2}=\sqrt{10000-3600}=\sqrt{6400}=80

CD=\sqrt{BD^2-BC^2}=\sqrt{170^2-80^2}=\sqrt{28900-6400}=\sqrt{22500}=150

then (AB+BC+CD)=60+80+150= 290

Hence final answer is miles.

Suppose the probability of contracting a certain disease is 1 in 27,124 for a new case in a given year. Approximate the probabil
Neporo4naja [7]

Answer:

The probability that there is at least one new case of the disease is approximately 0.19121

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that the probability of contracting a disease is p = 1/27124.

In an experiment n = 5756, we want to find the probability that there will be at least one new case of the disease. That is P(X ≥ 1).

If x is approximated Binomial(n, p)

Then

P(X = x) = (nCx)(p^x)q^(n - x)

Where q = 1 - p

Here, q = 1 - (1/27124) = 27123/27124

And nCx, read as "n combination x"

is given as n!/(n - x)! x!

Also note that

P(X ≥ a) = 1 - P(X < a)

So, it is sufficient to find P(X < 1) for this problem.

P(X < 1) = P(X = 0)

= (5756C0)(1/27124)^0(27123/27124)^(5756 - 0)

= 1 × 1 × 0.80879

≈ 0.80879

Now,

P(X ≥ 1) = 1 - 0.80879 = 0.19121
