One of your customers is delinquent on his accounts payable balance. You’ve mutually agreed to a repayment schedule of $500 per

month. You will charge 1.95 percent per month interest on the overdue balance. If the current balance is $18,500, how long will it take for the account to be paid off? (Do not round intermediate calculations and round your answer to 2 decimal places, e.g., 32.16.)

Answer: Number of months = 66.87 months

Explanation:

Given that,

Monthly Payment = $500

Interest rate(r) = 1.95% per month

Current Balance = $18,500

Number of months(t) = ?

Current\ balance = Monthly\ payment\times(\frac{1-present\ value\ factor}{r})

Current\ balance = Monthly\ payment\times(\frac{1-\frac{1}{(1+r)^{t}} }{r})

18,500 = 500\times(\frac{1-\frac{1}{(1+0.0195)^{t}} }{0.0195})

\frac{18,500}{500}\times0.0195=1-\frac{1}{1.0195^{t} }

\frac{1}{1.0195^{t}}=1-0.7215

1.0195^{t}=\frac{1}{0.2785}

1.0195^{t}=3.5906

Taking log on both side

t log(1.0195) = log(3.5906)

t = \frac{0.5551}{0.0083}

t = 66.87 months

Vera_Pavlovna [14]

Answer:

The present value of the rent payments over the life of the lease is  $27,708

Explanation:

Year 1: $8,000

Year 2: $12,000

Year 3: $14,000

Rate of return: 10%

Option 1:

The present value of the rent payments over the life of the lease can be calculated in excel in the formula of NPV

= NPV(Rate, Cash in year 1, cash in year 2, cash in year 3) = NPV(10%,8000,12000,14000) = $27,708

Option 2:

NPV of cash in Year 1 after 3 years = $8,000/(1+10%)^1 = $7,273

NPV of cash in Year 2 after 2 years = $12,000/(1+10%)^2 = $9,917

NPV of cash in Year 3 after 1 years = $14,000/(1+10%)^3 = $10,518

So total NPV of cash in 3 years = $7,273 +$9,917+$10,518

= $27,708

Strike441 [17]

Answer:

The time line from minting to the first sale is:

0-192

$15 - $430,000

we can use either the FV or the PV formula. Both will give the same answer since they are the inverse of each other. We will use the FV formula, that is:

FV = PV(1 + r)t

Solving for r :

r = (FV/PV)1/t - 1

r = ($430,000/$15)1/192 - 1

r = .0549, or 5.49%

The time line from the first sale to the second sale is:

0-35

$430,000 - $4,582,500

we can use either the FV or the PV formula. Using the FV formula, that is:

FV = PV(1 + r)t

Solving for r:

r = (FV/PV)1/t - 1

r = ($4,582,500/$430,000)1/35 - 1

r = .0699, or 6.99%

The time line from minting to the second sale is:

0-227

$15 - $4,582,500

we can use either the FV or the PV formula. Both will give the same answer since they are the inverse of each other. We will use the FV formula, that is:

FV = PV(1 + r)t

Solving for r, we get:

r = (FV/PV)1/t - 1

r = ($4,582,500/$15)1/227 - 1

r = .0572, or 5.72%
