Answer: Operant conditioning was used to influence the behavior of the rodent. By using reward tactics for the response we wanted, it influenced the actions of the rodent, making him complete the wanted action more than the others. The rodent was conditioned to complete a certain task, then was rewarded with cheese.

Through the method of ‘operand conditioning’ the rodent Ricky was  motivated to repeat its behavioral activity. This method discovered by B.F. Skinner, involves giving of rewards and punishments for activities to encourage learning.

It is used to associate behavior and its result. In the lab, the rodent was given a particular task for performing which it was given cheese that encouraged him to do his task in repetition.
