Let the length be x and the width be y.

<u>The perimeter is 18 in.</u>
2 ( x + y ) = 18
x + y = 9
x = 9 - y ----------------------- (1)

<u>The area is 18 in²</u>
xy = 18
x = 18/y . ----------------------- (2)

<u>Sub (1) into (2):</u>
9 - y = 18/y

<u>Multiply by y on both sides:</u>
9y - y² = 18
y² - 9y + 18 = 0
(y - 3)(y - 6) = 0
y = 3 or y = 6

<u>When y = 6</u>
x = 9 - y = 9 - 6 = 3

<u>Find the Length and Width:</u>
Length = x = 6
Width =  y = 3

Answer: The length is 6 inches and the width is 3 inches.

The total cost for two family cars was $71,1482 the cost of one car was $38,295 write an equation using a variable to represent
Harrizon [31]

Your 71,1482 doesn't make sense. But regardless,

let x = the other car's cost.

You know the total spent and the cost of one car. So logically, if you subtract the two you'd get the price of the second car.

You can do $38,295 + c = $71,1482.

Or $71,1482 - $38,295 = c.

If f(x) = 3x to the 2nd+ 1 and g(x) = 1-x, what is the value of (f-g)(2)?
melisa1 [442]

\displaystyle\\f(x)=3x^2+1\\g(x)=1-x\\\\(f-g)(x)=f(x)-g(x)=3x^2+1-(1-x)=3x^2+1-1+x=\boxed{3x^2+x}\\\\(f-g)(2)=f(2)-g(2)=3\cdot2^2+2=3\cdot4+2=12+2=\boxed{14}

Consider the circle with a radius of 30 cm. What is the approximate circumference of the circle? (use 3.14 as an approximation o
Goshia [24]

Answer: 188.4 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

the radius of the circle is r=30\ cm

Also, circumference is given by P=2\pi r

Putting values

\Rightarrow P=2\times 3.14 \times 30=188.4\ cm

The circumference of the circle is 188.4\ cm
