Working together, it takes 2 computers 12 minutes to send out emails. If it takes the slower 30 minutes to the job on its own, h
artcher [175]

Answer:

The faster computer can do the job in 20 mins on it own.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Time taken by slower computer to do job on its own =30 minutes.

Time taken by both the computers to do the job = 12 mins.

We need to find the Time taken by faster computer to do job on its own.

Solution:

Let the the Time taken by faster computer to do job on its own be 'x'.

Now we know that;

Rate to complete the job is equal to number of jobs divided by time taken to complete the job.

Rate of faster computer = \frac1x

Rate of slower computer = \frac{1}{30}

Rate of both the computers = \frac{1}{12}

Now we can say that;

Rate of both the computers is equal to sum of Rate of faster computer and Rate of slower computer.

framing in equation form we get;

\frac{1}{12}=\frac{1}{30}+\frac{1}{x}\\\\\frac{1}{x} = \frac{1}{12}-\frac{1}{30}

Now we will take the LCM to make the denominator common we get;

\frac{1}{x}=\frac{5}{12\times5}-\frac{2}{30\times2}\\\\\frac1x=\frac{5}{60}-\frac{2}{60}

Now denominator are same so we will solve the numerator.

\frac1x=\frac{5-2}{60}\\\\\frac1x=\frac{3}{60}\\\\\frac1x=\frac{1}{20}\\\\x=20\ mins

Hence The faster computer can do the job in 20 mins on it own.

A bottle weighs 1.2 kg when it is 1/4 full of water. It weighs 2.4 kg when it is full. What is the weight of the empty bottle?
sweet [91]

Answer:

Weight of empty bottle = 0.8 kg

Weight of water = 1.6 kg

Step-by-step explanation:

As given , A bottle weighs 1.2 kg when it is 1/4 full of water. It weighs 2.4 kg when it is full.

Let us assume

Weight of empty bottle = x

Weight of water = y

Now,

when the bottle is 1/4 full of water

then,

weight of water = \frac{1}{4}×y

As given , Bottle weight = 1.2 , when it is 1/4 full of water

⇒ Weight of water + weight of bottle = 1.2

⇒ \frac{1}{4}×y + x = 1.2

⇒ y + 4x = 4.8      .......(1)

Also given, A bottle weight = 2.4 , when it is full of water

⇒ Weight of water + weight of bottle = 2.4

⇒ y + x = 2.4        ......(2)

Subtract equation (2) from equation (1) , we get

y + 4x - ( y+ x) = 4.8 - 2.4

⇒ y + 4x - y - x = 2.4

⇒3x = 2.4

⇒x = \frac{2.4}{3} = 0.8 kg

and y = 2.4 - x = 2.4 - 0.8 = 1.6 kg

∴ we get

Weight of empty bottle = x = 0.8 kg

Weight of water = y = 1.6 kg

How are exponential functions related to logarithmic functions?<br> Model that with an example.
scoundrel [369]
Exponential functions are related to logarithmic functions in that they are inverse functions. Exponential functions move quickly up towards a [y] infinity, bounded by a vertical asymptote (aka limit), whereas logarithmic functions start quick but then taper out towards an [x] infinity, bounded by a horizontal asymptote (aka limit).
If we use the natural logarithm (ln) as an example, the constant "e" is the base of ln, such that:
ln(x) = y, which is really stating that the base (assumed "e" even though not shown), that:
{e}^{y}  = x
if we try to solve for y in this form it's nearly impossible, that's why we stick with ln(x) = y
but to find the inverse of the form:
{e}^{y}  = x
switch the x and y, then solve for y:
{e}^{x}  = y
So the exponential function is the inverse of the logarithmic one, f(x) = ln x

a milk tank at a a dairy farm has the form of a rectangular prism. The tank is 3.5 feet wide. The width of the tank is 5/7 of it
AURORKA [14]

Answer:

17.5 cubic feet

1163.75 pounds

Step-by-step explanation:

Givens

L = 3.5                                    Given

W = 5/7  *  3.5                        Divide by 7

W = 5 * 0.5                             Combine

W = 2.5

H = 4/5 * w

H = 4/5 * 2.5

H = 4 * 0.5

H = 2

Volume

V = L * w * h

V = 3.5 * 2.5 * 2

V = 17.5

Weight

1  Cubic foot Milk = 66.5 pounds

17.5 cubic feet milk = x

1 / 17.5 = 66.5/ x

x = 17.5 * 66.5

x = 1164.75
