The given end points of the line of the given graph are J(-6,-2) and K( 8,-9).

We need to find the coordinate of x that divide the line segment from J to K in 2:5 ratio.

We are given formula also.

x=\left(\frac{m}{m+n}\right)\left(x_2-x_1\right)+x_1

We have m = 2, n= 5, x1 = -6 and x2 = 8.

Plugging those values of m, n, x1 and x2 in above formula, we get

x=\left(\frac{2}{2+5}\right)\left(8-\left(-6\right)\right)+\left(-6\right)

=\frac{2}{7}\left(8+6\right)-6

=\frac{2\cdot \:14}{7}-6

=4-6

x=-2

<h3>Therefore, correct option is 2nd option -2.</h3>

b. Sixty-five pounds of candy was divided into four different boxes. The second box contained twice the amount of the first box.
Ainat [17]

First box = 14 pounds

Second box = 2x = 28 pounds

Third Box = x+2= 16 pounds

Fourth box = x/2 = 7 pounds

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

Here we have , Sixty-five pounds of candy was divided into four different boxes. The second box contained twice the amount of the first box. The third box contained two more pounds than the first box. The last box contained one-fourth the amount in the second box. We need to find How much candy was in each box. Let's find out:

We have a total of 65 pounds of candy ! Let in first box we have x pounds so , second box contained twice the amount of the first box i.e.

⇒ 2x

The third box contained two more pounds than the first box i.e.

⇒ x+2

The last box contained one-fourth the amount in the second box i.e.

⇒ (\frac{1}{4})2x = \frac{x}{4}

Therefore , Sum of pounds of candy are :

⇒ \frac{x}{2} +x+2+2x+x=65

⇒ \frac{x}{2} +4x=63

⇒ \frac{9x}{2}=63

⇒ x=63(\frac{2}{9} )

⇒ x=14

Therefore , Candy in each box is :

First box = 14 pounds

Second box = 2x = 28 pounds

Third Box = x+2= 16 pounds

Fourth box = x/2 = 7 pounds

5. By using prime factorisation, determine if 324 and 588 are<br> perfect squares.
ad-work [718]

Step-by-step explanation:

first do prime factorization of 324= 2×2×3×3×3×3

= 2 square, 3 square,3 square

therefore 324 is a perfect square

Now,

prime factorization of 588=2×2×3×7×7

= 2 square,7 square ,3

therefore 588 is not a perfect square
