The passage above highlights the irony that  is implicit in a social life. While society  pushes its members into conventions and conformity, it's risky behavior that correlates with success. The  passage above acknowledges that Tom's misbehavior is linked to his heroism. His socially deviant behavior will either lead him to a death sentence or the presidency.

What overseas lands did the U.S acquire from 1867-1906
anyanavicka [17]

The US acquired several different pieces of land outside the continental US between 1867-1906. This includes:

1) Guam

2) Puerto Rico

3) Phillipines

4) Hawaii

Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Phillipines were all taken over by the US after the Spanish American War of 1898. This war saw the US helped free Cuba from Spanish control. Along with this, the Spanish agreed to relinquish control of the rest of their colonies in the Western Hemisphere.

Besides this, the US also took over Hawaii. This was done by helping Hawaiin citizens overthrow their queen and establishing a democratic system similar to the one the United States has during this time.

PLEASE ANSWER! How did the weaknesses in the Articles of Confederation lead to Shay's Rebellion!!!
Mkey [24]
The Articles of Confederation were very weak. They did not allow for a central government nor a way to tax the citizens in a uniform way. In response to the way taxes were being handled (one of the main weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation) and the debt crisis, Daniel Shay, a former malita officer, led a rebellion. This proved the need for a stronger central government, as the rebellion could not be put down, and a change to the way taxes were handled.
