Now we simply plug in 5 - 3y wherever x apperas in the 1st equation.

2 (5-3y) + 3y = 8

10 - 6y + 3y   = 8

10 - 3y           = 8

-3y                 =  -2

y                    = 2/3

Then x = 5 - 3*2/3 = 3

x=3

y=2/3
