First work out the 'multiplier'

3 + 5 + 9 = 17 so Multiplier = 1/17

$558 is the largest share  and that equals  9 * 1/17  of x  where x is the total amount of money

9x / 17 = 558

x = (558 * 17) / 9  =   $1054

So the smallest share  = 3 /17  *  1054 =  $186  Answer

Which statement is TRUE?
tatiyna

Answer:

B) A random sample may represent the population <em>is your best answer.</em>

Step-by-step explanation:

Note that the answer choice says "may", which means that it doesn't <em>always</em> represent the population. Random samples means that they ask random people, and do not have a certain rule that they have to follow (such as recipients can only be a certain race, age, etc.) and that they can ask anybody they meet. This can give not only a higher chance of a general population's opinion, but also makes sure that there is not a high chance of obtaining misleading information.

For example, a random survey would not take place at a rally, in which most of the people would believe the same thing, and would answer fairly the same for the survey. Instead, a random survey may be taken at a busy intersection during the time when most people are out. You must note that though it has the best chance of getting a <em>more accurate</em> representation, it still isn't the most accurate. For the best accuracy, <em>everyone would have to answer the survey in which the survey question would affect</em>.

Simplify by expressing fractional exponents instead of radicals
igomit [66]

Answer:

a^{\frac{1}{2}}b^{\frac{1}{2}}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

The expression in radical form is given as:

\sqrt{ab}

We need to express this in fractional exponent form.

We know that,

\sqrt a=a^{\frac{1}{2}}

Also, \sqrt{ab}=\sqrt a\times \sqrt b

Now, clubbing both the properties of square root function, we can rewrite the given expression as:

\sqrt{ab}=\sqrt a \times \sqrt b\\\\\sqrt{ab}=a^{\frac{1}{2}}\times b^{\frac{1}{2}}\\\\\therefore \sqrt{ab}=a^{\frac{1}{2}}b^{\frac{1}{2}}

So, the given expression in fractional exponents form is a^{\frac{1}{2}}b^{\frac{1}{2}}.

Triss [41]

Equation is y=kx.  We have four chance to figure out k; hopefully they all give the same result

x=9, y=63,  y=kx becomes 63=k(9) so k=63/9=7

x=4, y=28, 28=k(4), k=7

The constant of proportionality is 7; we check  2×7=14, 11×7=77

Answer: k=7,   y=7x
