If it goes from a volume of x, then when the volume is doubled it will go to a volume of 2x. If you meant what happens to the pressure, then the pressure halves as volume doubles due to Boyle's law.

Answer:

The volume will be equal to the volume of the new container

Explanation:

Boyle-Mariotte Law: The law says that, the pressure exerted by a physical force is inversely proportional to the volume of a gaseous mass, as long as its temperature remains constant. Or in simpler terms: At a constant temperature, the volume of a fixed mass of gas is inversely proportional to the pressure it exerts. Mathematically it can be expressed like this: PV = k where k is cosntante if the temperature and mass of the gas remain constant.

In other words, the volume at the beginning is equal to the first container, then when transferred it is equal to the second one since the gas expands in the entire container, but according to Boyle-Mariotte's law although the volume increases according to the volume of the container, what decreases is the pressure according to the formula P * V = k

bre: 1073/2900 Resources A sample of metal has a mass of 24.02 g, and a volume of 5.02 mL. What is the density of this metal? g/
alina1380 [7]

Answer:

4.78 g/cm³

Explanation:

Density is expressed as mass per unit volume:

D = m/V

D = (24.02 g) / (5.02 mL) = 4.78 g/mL

The density should be expressed in g/cm³, so mL must be converted to cm³. The conversion ratio is 1 mL = 1 cm³.

(4.78 g/mL)(1 mL/1 cm³) = 4.78 g/cm³

A sample of oxygen gas has a volume of 36.7 L at 145 kPa and 65. ̊C. What volume will the sample have at STP?
xxTIMURxx [149]
Data Given:

                  Initial Volume = V₁ =  36.7 L

                  Initial Pressure = P₁ =  145 kPa

                  Initial Temperature = T₁ =  65 °C + 273 = 338 K

                  Final Volume = V₂ = ?

                  Final Pressure = P₂ = 101.325 kPa           (Standard Pressure)

                  Final Temperature = T₂ = 273 K                (Standard Temperature)

Formula used:
                      As number of moles are constant, so Ideal Gas equation in following form is used,
                                        P₁ V₁ / T₁  =  P₂ V₂ / T₂
Solving for V₂,
                                    V₂  = P₁ V₁ T₂ / T₁ P₂
Putting Values,

                  V₂ = (145 kPa × 36.7 L × 338 K) ÷ (273 K × 101.325 kPa)

                  V₂ = 1798667 ÷ 27661.25

                  V₂ = 65.02 L
