Answer: Option (D) is the correct answer.

Explanation:

It is known that when we increase the temperature for a certain chemical reaction then there is increase in movement of particles as they tend to gain kinetic energy.

So, there will also be increase in number of collisions between the particles. Thus, there will be increase in rate of a reaction.

But it is not necessary that every time on increasing the temperature the rate of reaction will also increase.

For example, in an exothermic reaction rate of reaction increase with decrease in temperature.

Hence, only at a specific point rate of reaction is going to increase and not at all the temperature values it is going to increase as the reactants may degrade at high temperature.

Therefore, we can conclude that reaction rate is highest at a specific temperature.

Answer;

D) Reaction rate is highest at a specific temperature.

Explanation;

Reaction rates of a given chemical reaction increase as the temperature increases. The rate of reaction proceeds increasingly up to a certain specific temperature where the reaction is at optimal level.

The explanation for the increased rate of reaction would be; increasing temperature increases the kinetic energies of molecules. The rapid movement of  molecules results to more frequent collision of these molecules and with higher energy, leading to increased rates of reaction.
