“The Japanese have a word for insular which is literally the mental state of the people living on islands:shimaguni konjo.”

Normally, when you want to directly quote an external source, as you may know, you will want to have quotation marks at the beginning and ending of the quotation. However, this is not always the case. When a quotation is 40 words or longer, the quotation marks should not be used and the quotation should be formatted in block style instead of using quotation marks. Because the second paragraph follows a colon after a lead-in/introductory statement, it is understood that the entire second paragraph is a quotation. As such, because the following quotation comes from the second paragraph, it is an example of a direct quotation: “The Japanese have a word for insular which is literally the mental state of the people living on islands:shimaguni konjo.”

How does Hamilton convey his ideas about the power of the judicial branch of the government in Paragraph 1? He asserts that the
ladessa [460]
In my opinion, the correct answer is D. He compares the powers of the executive and legislative branches to those of the judiciary, highlighting the strengths of the former and the relative weaknesses of the latter. In Hamilton's view, the judiciary branch is the least powerful of the three. He says that it has no real power or influence over "the sword" or "the purse", which are controlled by the executive and legislative branches. It is devoid of force and will, and it can merely judge, but even that it cannot do without help from the executive branch.

Peter is writing a love letter to Helen, and he has decided that the word thin is not exactly the right word to use at one point
Novosadov [1.4K]

Answer:

Explanation:

Well anorexic is not exactly an endearing quality. If Helen is svelte, she would hardly like to be called anorexic. The former means that she is exotic in a very attractive manner as well as being athletically thin. That's a real compliment. Anorexic is a disease caused by undereating.

He should be sensitive to how she things about language and how careful she is. D might be a factor.

She would hardly care how anorexic originated. It's not something she likely wants to be associated with.

If the word has a hidden meaning form denotation, then it is something to consider carefully. Skinny is an example. Scrawny is even worse. Helen would not like to be called either of those. They have a disagreeable meaning associated with them.

I'm not sure what the proper interpretation of thematic form of a word is. I know what a theme is, and it does not sound very romantic, unless he's going to go on forever about her thinness which is not very smart.

I would choose B. Don't use words that have hidden meanings or obvious connotations.
