Read the following excerpt from the sacred Maya book Popol Vuh. Note that in the excerpt, the Maya forefathers are talking to th

e animals they just created.
Then they [the Maya forefathers] said to them [the animals]: “Because it has not been possible for you to talk, you shall be changed. We have changed our minds: Your food, your pasture, your homes, and your nests you shall have; they shall be the ravines and the woods, because it has not been possible for you to adore us or invoke us. There shall be those who adore us, we shall make other [beings] who shall be obedient. Accept your destiny: your flesh shall be torn to pieces. So shall it be. This shall be your lot.” So they said, when they made known their will to the large and small animals which are on the face of the earth.

What can you most reasonably conclude about the Maya belief system from the excerpt?

A.They believed that animals were wicked and ungrateful creatures.

B.They believed that humans were the civilized descendants of animals.

C.They believed that animals had to be sacrificed for the greater good.

D.They believed that it was the fate of animals to be hunted and eaten.

From the excerpt, I conclude that the Maya forefathers believed it was the fate of animals to be hunted and eaten. The key segment of this text is "Accept your destiny. Your flesh shall be torn to pieces." The forefathers mention they have changed their mind because animals were not able to adore or obey them.

Because animals cannot adore their creators, "there shall be those" who will be able to do all of this. These "others" are the humans, who will hunt and eat animals. Animals will then have to accept their destiny and "be changed," being sent to the ravines and the woods.

I think that the most reasonable conclusion is answer D.

PolarNik [594]

Answer:

a. original jurisdiction

Explanation:

  • Original jurisdiction is the exclusive power of the Supreme Court of the United States, where certain matters may be brought directly to the Supreme Court.
  • In other words, the court has the power to first hear a case in court, contrary to the appellate jurisdiction, which has only the authority to review the jurisdiction of the subordinate court.
  • Contextually, a case file that can directly bring California to the Supreme Court on Nevada on river pollution is an example of the Supreme Court's original jurisdiction.

Answer:

There is no set of guidelines on how to take any potential disciplinary actions with disabled employees

Explanation:

According to the ADA and the Rehabilitation Act, discrimination in the employment process against qualified persons with disabilities is forbidden. These laws indicate that employees with disabilities have to meet qualification standards that relate to the job and are compatible with the needs of the business. They have to be apt enough to perform the fundamental functions of the job position, no matter if there is reasonable accommodation or not. This represents some problems regarding disciplinary actions as well.

Leokris [45]

Answer

I would advise him to try and exercise in the mornings or at least several hours before bedtime.

Also, alcohol consumption right before bedtime is not advisable. Eating heavy foods before falling asleep such as pizzas and burgers can contribute to a bad night. So the advice would be for him to eat lightly at least 3 hours before going to bed.

Explanation

In conclusion:

1. Exercise in the mornings, or at least several hours before bedtime.

2. Regulate alcohol consumption in general, and try to avoid drinking beer right before falling asleep.

3. Regulate the type of foods that he is consuming right before bedtime.

4. Try to elaborate on a night-time routine.
