A) Graham drove 31.75 miles in one hour.

My Work/Reasoning:
To find how much Graham drove in 1 hour, you divide the distance by time.    42 1/3 / 1 1/3
Then you convert the mixed fractions into improper fractions. 127/3 / 4/3
Finally, you solve the equation and learn that Graham drove 31.75 miles in one hour.

b) 4/127 hours

My Work/Reasoning:
In this case, you reverse the equation from (a). 1 1/3 / 42 1/3
Then you convert the mixed fractions into improper factions. 4/3 / 127/3
Finally, you solve the equation and learn that Graham takes 4/127 hours to drive one mile.

Which correlation coefficient represents the strongest downward trend in a data set? -0.83 -0.23 0.12 0.92
klasskru [66]

Answer: -0.83

Step-by-step explanation:

A correlation coefficient(r) is used to determine the strength and direction of the relationship between two variables.

-1 ≤ r ≤1

For downward trend r is negative.

For strong correlation r should be closer to 1 or -1.

From the given correlation coefficients  -0.83 is both negative and closer to -1.

Hence, a correlation coefficient represents the strongest downward trend in a data set = -0.83

If one root of the equation is 4x^2- 2x+p-4 be the reciprocal of other. then find the value of p
SashulF [63]

Answer:

p = 8

Step-by-step explanation:

Let one root of the eqn. be alpha . Other root is 1/alpha .

We know that product of both roots of an quadratic eqn. is c/a where "c" is the co-efficient of the constant  & "a" is the co-efficient of x^2.

Here "c" is p-4 & "a" is 4. And the product of roots is 1 ( ∵ prdouct of a number and its reciprocal is 1 )

\frac{c}{a} = 1\\=> \frac{p - 4}{4} = 1\\=> p - 4 = 4\\=> p = 4 + 4 = 8
