Which of the following statements regarding secretory protein translocation is NOT true? Hydropathy profiles are used to computa

tionally identify secreted proteins. Type II membrane proteins have a signal sequence targeting them to the ER as well as a signal anchor sequence. Type I membrane proteins contain two signal sequences; one targets the protein to the ER and one is a stop transfer anchor sequence. Type IV membrane proteins contain a mixture of both stop transfer anchor sequences and signal anchor sequences, the order of which determines the protein's orientation in the membrane.

Incorrect statement is: Type II membrane proteins have a signal sequence targeting them to the ER as well as a signal anchor sequence.

Signal peptide or signal sequence is a sequence of amino acids that gets recognized by signal recognition particle (SRP). This sequence is involved in cotranslational translocation into ER, where the protein should be folded. A stop-transfer sequence signals that translation of the protein should continue in the cytosol (not in ER). A signal anchor sequence signals the insertion of protein into the ER membrane.

Which statements describe transform boundaries? A) Rift valleys are formed. B) Mountains are created. C) Faults form in the lith
torisob [31]

Answer:

C) Faults form in the lithosphere.

Explanation:

Faults form in lithosphere is part of transform boundaries because the plates simply slide past each other without causing any change to the lithosphere (i.e it is neither created nor destroyed) which is why transform boundaries are also sometimes referenced when we speak about phenomena related to when plates slide in opposite directions.

A dodder plant wraps itself around a potato plant. Then the dodder uses its root system to obtain water and nutrients from the
kolbaska11 [484]

Answer:

•The dodder plant is parasitic.

•The dodder plant stays alive because of the potato plant.

Explanation:

A parasite cannot survive or reproduce without its host because it depends on it. The dodder plant is parasitic to the potato plant because it derives its nutrition from the potato plant which is the host. The potato plant is denied its nutrient and therefore grows weakly below its maximum potential. The dodder plant gains while the potato plant is negatively affected- that’s parasitism relationship.
