Answer:

AB and CD are parallel lines

Step-by-step explanation:

• Parallel lines have equal slopes

• The slopes of perpendicular lines are negative reciprocals

Calculate the slope m using the gradient formula

m = ( y₂ - y₁ ) / ( x₂ - x₁ )

let (x₁, y₁ ) = A(1, 4) and (x₂, y₂ ) = B(3, 8)

m = \frac{8-4}{3-1} = \frac{4}{2} = 2

let (x₁, y₁ ) = C(- 1, 6) and (x₂, y₂ ) = D(3, 14)

m = \frac{14-6}{3+1} = \frac{8}{4} = 2

Since slope of AB and CD are equal then lines are parallel

Answer: Parallel

Step-by-step explanation:

slope (m)= \dfrac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

m_{AB}=\dfrac{8-4}{3-1}=\dfrac{4}{2}=2

m_{CD}=\dfrac{14-6}{3+1}=\dfrac{8}{4}=2

Since AB and CD have the same slope, they are parallel

BRAINLIESTTTTTT ASAPPPP
PLEASE ANSWER MY QUESTION
yawa3891 [41]
The red line is represented by y ≥ -3x + 3.

The blue line is represented by y < 3/2x - 6.

A) In this system of inequalities, there is one solid line and one dashed line.

The solid line is the inequality y ≥ -3x + 3 because it has the symbol greater than or equal to. The "equal to" part of the symbol is important because it means that any coordinate located on the solid line is a solution.

However, the inequality y < 3/2x - 6 is a dashed line because it does not have "equal to." This makes the inequality a dashed line which means that all coordinates on it will not be a solution to the inequality.

In the inequality y ≥ -3x + 3, the shading is above the line. This means that all coordinates within the line and shaded area above the line will be a solution to the inequality.

In the inequality y < 3/2x - 6, the shading is below the line. This means that all coordinates within the shared area of the line will be a solution to the inequality. However, since y is not less than or EQUAL TO, all coordinates within the dashed line is not a solution to the inequality.

The solution area, where a coordinate is a solution to
both inequalities, is where the shaded areas of both inequalities overlap.

B) The point (-6, 3) is a not solution to both of the inequalities because it is not within the shared areas of the two inequalities.

Substitute the coordinate (-6, 3) in the inequality y < 3/2x - 6.

y < 3/2x - 6

3 < 3/2(-6) - 6

3 < -9 - 6

3 < -15

This is not true because a negative number cannot be greater than a positive number. Therefore, this proves that the coordinate (-6, 3) is not a solution for the inequality y < 3/2x - 6.

Check if the coordinate fits for the other inequality.

y ≥ -3x + 3

3 ≥ -3(-6) + 3

3 ≥ 18 + 3

3 ≥ 21

This is also not true because 3 is not greater than or equal to 21. Therefore, this coordinate is not a solution to the inequality y ≥ -3x + 3.

The coordinate (-6, 3) is not a solution for the system of inequalities because it is not a solution for both inequalities.

Y = x² – 4 y = 2r + 4

Solve algebraicallu for the solutions of equations below.
oksano4ka [1.4K]

Step-by-step explanation:

Okay, the first step is to rewrite this equation in "vertex form." You can search that up but it's basically just (h/k).

y = ( x − 1) 2 + 3

Now, we are going to use the vertex form, "y = a (x - h)2 + k, to get the values of a, h, and k.

By using the form we get 1 for the value a, 1 for the value h, and 3 for the value k.

1 = a

1 = h

3 = k

Becuse the value of a is positive, the parabola opens up! (A parabola is the U shaped line in a graph, so that opens up.)

Now, we find the vertex (h,k)

which is (1,3)

Now we find the p from the vertex to the focus. (vertext the top, focus one of the points.)

Follow this formula to find the distance from the vertex to a focus by using this formula

1/4a.

Now we just gonna substitue 1 for a, since we know that 1 equals a above ^

1/4 * 1

Solving that, we got a nice little 1/4.

Next we find the focus

"Find the focus.

The focus of a parabola can be found by adding p to the y-coordinate k if the parabola opens up or down.

(h,k+p)

Substitute the known values of h, p, and k into the formula and simplify.

(1,134)

Find the axis of symmetry by finding the line that passes through the vertex and the focus.

x=1

Find the directrix.

y=114

Use the properties of the parabola to analyze and graph the parabola.

Direction: Opens Up

Vertex: (1,3)

Focus: (1,134)

Axis of Symmetry: x=1

Directrix: y=114

Select a few x values, and plug them into the equation to find the corresponding y values. The x values should be selected around the vertex.

xy−1704132437

Graph the parabola using its properties and the selected points.

Direction: Opens Up

Vertex: (1,3)

Focus: (1,134)

Axis of Symmetry: x=1

Directrix: y=114

xy−17041324"

(Sorry if this is long! But I hope you understand it better now! Thanks for the points!)

50 POINTS!! HELP!
Minchanka [31]

i dont have time to do all of it (sorry)

but this is how you do the point and slope questions:

use the equation: y-y1 = m(x - x1)

y1 is the y point you are given

x1 is the x point you are given

m is your slope

substitute all of those in from the question

the first one is:

y --4 = -5/6(x-8)

-- turns into a plus so the answer would be

y+4 = -5/6(x-8)
