We are starting with y = 3x -5 which is the slope intercept form (y = mx +b) of a linear equation where the slope is m and the y intercept is b.  In this equation the slope m = 3 A perpendicular line would have a slope that is the negative reciprocal so the slope of the perpendicular line would be m = -1/3 So we have a slope m = -1/3   and a point (3,2)  so use the point slope formula (Y-Y1) = m(X-X1)In this case (X1,Y1) = (3,2) (Y - 2) = (-1/3)(X-3) Y-2 = (-1/3)X + 1 Y = (-1/3)X + 3 would be the equation of the perpendicular line through (3,2)

Y = -3x + 5...slope here is -3. A perpendicular line will have a negative reciprocal slope. All thet means is flip the slope and change the sign. So our perpendicular line will have a slope of 1/3....see how I flipped -3, or  -3/1, and made it -1/3...and then switched the sign, making it 1/3)

y = mx + b
slope(m) = 1/3
(-3,-5)...x = -3 and y = -5
sub and find b, the y int
-5 = 1/3(-3) + b
-5 = -1 + b
-5 + 1 = b
-4 = b

so ur perpendicular equation is : y = 1/3x - 4

120 m of rail. Just mutiply 20 by 2 and 40 by 2. You will get 40 and 80. Now add them to get 120.

Factor the polynomial
WARRIOR [948]
   3x⁶y² + 57x⁵y³ + 252x⁴y⁴
= 3x⁴y²(x² + 19xy + 84y²)
= 3x⁴y²(x² + 12xy + 7xy + 84y²)
= 3x⁴y²(x(x + 12y) + 7y(x + 12y))
= 3x⁴y²(x + 12y)(x + 7y)

In ΔEFG, the measure of ∠G=90°, the measure of ∠E=77°, and GE = 2.6 feet. Find the length of FG to the nearest tenth of a foot.
BigorU [14]

Answer:

FG=11.6 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

cos 77 degrees=2.6/FG (because this is a right triangle)

.22495=2.6/FG

FG=11.558 feet
