We are starting with y = 3x -5 which is the slope intercept form (y = mx +b) of a linear equation where the slope is m and the y intercept is b.  In this equation the slope m = 3 A perpendicular line would have a slope that is the negative reciprocal so the slope of the perpendicular line would be m = -1/3 So we have a slope m = -1/3   and a point (3,2)  so use the point slope formula (Y-Y1) = m(X-X1)In this case (X1,Y1) = (3,2) (Y - 2) = (-1/3)(X-3) Y-2 = (-1/3)X + 1 Y = (-1/3)X + 3 would be the equation of the perpendicular line through (3,2)

Y = -3x + 5...slope here is -3. A perpendicular line will have a negative reciprocal slope. All thet means is flip the slope and change the sign. So our perpendicular line will have a slope of 1/3....see how I flipped -3, or  -3/1, and made it -1/3...and then switched the sign, making it 1/3)

y = mx + b
slope(m) = 1/3
(-3,-5)...x = -3 and y = -5
sub and find b, the y int
-5 = 1/3(-3) + b
-5 = -1 + b
-5 + 1 = b
-4 = b

so ur perpendicular equation is : y = 1/3x - 4

Solve for y. 3.2 = 2y. please answer thanks :)
PilotLPTM [1.2K]

Answer:

Simplifying

3.2 = 2y

Solving

3.2 = 2y

Solving for variable 'y'.

Move all terms containing y to the left, all other terms to the right.

Add '-2y' to each side of the equation.

3.2 + -2y = 2y + -2y

Combine like terms: 2y + -2y = 0

3.2 + -2y = 0

Add '-3.2' to each side of the equation.

3.2 + -3.2 + -2y = 0 + -3.2

Combine like terms: 3.2 + -3.2 = 0.0

0.0 + -2y = 0 + -3.2

-2y = 0 + -3.2

Combine like terms: 0 + -3.2 = -3.2

-2y = -3.2

Divide each side by '-2'.

y = 1.6

Simplifying

y = 1.6

What is the distance traveled by the lunar station in one orbit?
umka2103 [35]
Notice the picture below

then, the diameter made by the orbiting lunar station is 32 + 2548 + 32

or 2612, that means the radius is half that, or 1306, that means one orbit is

circumference of a circle = C = 2π r, r = 1306, thus C = 2π * 1306
