There is a 70% chance that a person eats dinner, a 50% chance a person eats dessert and a 35% chance the person will eat dinner

and dessert. Which of the following is true?
A. Eating dinner and eating dessert are dependent events because P(dinner)*P(dessert)=0.7*0.5=0.35 which is equal to P(dinner and dessert)=0.35.
B. Eating dinner and eating dessert are independent events becauseP(dinner)-P(dessert)=0.7-0.5=0.2 which is less than P(dinner and dessert)=0.35.
C. Eating dinner and eating dessert are dependent events because P(dinner)-P(dessert)=0.7-0.5=0.2 which is less than P(dinnerand dessert)=0.35.
D. Eating dinner and eating dessert are independent events because P(dinner)*P(dessert)=0.7*0.5=0.35 which is equal to P(dinnerand dessert)=0.35.

From probability we know that if we have two independent events, A and B, then we know that to find the probability that two independent events will happen we multiply the probabilities of the two events.

Thus, to find the probability, P(A and B), we simply have to use the following equation:

P(A and B)=P(A)\times P(B)

Now, in our question, the situation is similar. We have been given that "There is a 70% chance that a person eats dinner, a 50% chance a person eats dessert and a 35% chance the person will eat dinner and dessert."

Let "A" be the event that a person eats dinner.

Let "B" be the event that a person eats dessert.

We can see that events A and B are independent events because a person who has dinner may not necessarily have desserts and vice versa.

Now, it has been given that P(A)=0.7 and P(B)=0.5. Therefore the probability that a person who has dinner will have dessert too will be given by:

P(A and B)=P(A)\times P(B)=0.7\times 0.5=0.35

Thus, out of the given options, only Option D is the correct option.

GREYUIT [131]

Answer: x+y=23, 3x+2y = 55 x + y = 55, 3x + 2y = 55 x+y=23, 2x+3y= 55 x+y=55, 2x+3y =23

Step-by-step explanation: The question said the sum is x+y so if the sum is 55, x+y=55

2m + 14 = -3?I need the steps and answer
Inessa [10]
2m+14=-3
First, subtract 14 from both sides to make the problem simplifer.
2m+14-14=-3-14
2m=-17
Divide both sides by 2 to solve the problem.
2m/2=-17/2
m=8.5
Hope it helps. :D

R = 4 in., θ = 11 rad; find s
son4ous [18]

Answer:

The arc length s = 44 inches

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given:

r = 4 in

Ф = 11 radians

We need to find s

The formula used is: s=r\theta

where s represents arc length, r is radius and Ф is angle in radians

Putting values and finding s

s=r\theta

Put r = 4 and Ф = 11

s=4\times 11\\s=44

So, the arc length s = 44 inches

Why do you need to find common denominators simplify your equation
Daniel [21]
Finding common denominators allows you to more easily get your answer for the problem.  fractions are complex as it is  if you have a denominator of 16 and 4 your immediate reaction would be to just subtract the process and answer would be completely wrong.
