White petal color is recessive trait, meaning that its genotype is pp (homozygous recessive).

On the other hand, PP is homozygous dominant genotype resulting in purple petal color (phenotype).

Since the allele P is dominant over p, heterozygous genotype Pp will also result in purple color.
