The equilibrium constant is 8.8 x 102 at a particular temperature for the reaction: H2(g) + I2(g) ⇌ 2HI(g) Use this information

to decide what will happen, given the following sets of initial conditions: Will the reaction shift to the left, to the right or will the system be at equilibrium? A 4.0 L flask contains 1.17 mol H2, 0.083 mol I2 and 8.11 mol HI. A 2.0 L flask contains 0.0455 mol H2, 0.012 mol I2 and 0.693 mol HI. PH2 = 0.5380 torr,PI2 = 0.066 torr, PHI = 5.59 torr PH2 = 0.47 torr, PI2 = 0.061 torr, PHI = 5.99 torr

Answer:

when the balanced equation for the reaction is:

          H2(g) + i2(g)⇄ 2Hi

initial    0.5      0.5        X

            -X        -X         +X

Final (0.5-x)    (0.5-x)   2X

by substitution at the Kc formula:

Kc= [Hi]^2 / [H2] * [i2]

53.3 = (2X)^2 / (0.5-X) (0.5-X)by taking the square route

√53.3 = 2X / (0.5-X)

∴X = 0.39 m

∴[Hi] = 0.39 m

How many moles of mercury (II) oxide are needed to produce 65.00 g of mercury?
natima [27]

Answer:

the moles of mercury are nHg = 65/201

HgO --------> Hg + 1/2O2

65/201 65/201

=> the moles of HgO are 65/201 mol

What is the minimum (non-zero) thickness of a benzene (n = 1.501) thin film that will result in constructive interference when v
ad-work [718]

Explanation:

At each reflecting surface (benzene and glass) there will be 180 degree phase change.

Now, for constructive interference the optical path in benzene is \lambda.

Formula to calculate thickness of a benzene thin film is as follows.

     Optical path length through benzene (\lambda) = 2 \times n \times d

Hence, substituting the given values into the above formula as follows.

    Optical path length through benzene = 2 \times n \times d

                   d = \frac{\text{Optical path length through benzene}}{2 \times n}

                       = \frac{\lambda}{2 \times n}

                       = \frac{615 \times 10^{-9}}{2 \times 1.501}   (as 1 nm = 10^{-9}m

                       = 204.9 m

Thus, we can conclude that minimum thickness of benzene is 204.9 m.

Which units describe the molarity of an aqueous sucrose solution? moles of sucrose per liter of solution grams of solution per l
r-ruslan [8.4K]
Molarity is one way of expressing concentration of solutions. It has units of moles of solute per liter of the solution. Take note, this is not only for sucrose solution, this is used for every solution. The correct answer from the choices is "moles of sucrose per liter of solution ".
