<span>In 1947, President Truman took action against the Communist threats in Greece and Turkey in the first example of what would later come to be known as the "Truman Doctrine". Rather than sending U.S. military assets to directly fight and aid these countries in the fight against Communism, Truman instead pledged financial support, sending $400 million in aid to these two countries.</span>

Later, there was the establishment of Radio Kaduna Television known as RKTV in March 1962.

Ten years after, MidWest TV was established in Port Harcourt, which was 1972.

Later in 1974 Benue-Plateau Television Corporation known as BPTV was established.

By 1977, all the aforelisted televisions were merged to form the present-day Nigerian Television Authority.
