So, the ratio of the height of boy and his shadow = $\frac{3}{b}$

Now, the tree of 60 ft long casts 100 ft shadow,

So, the ratio of height of tree and its shadow = $\frac{60}{100}$

At the same time,

$\frac{3}{b}=\frac{60}{100}$

Which is the required equation.
