A thin, horizontal, 18-cm-diameter copper plate is charged to -3.8 nC. Assume that the electrons are uniformly distributed on th

e surface. Part A) What is the strength of the electric field 0.1 mm above the center of the top surface of the plate? Express your answer to two significant figures and include the appropriate units. Part B) What is the strength of the electric field 0.1 mm below the center of the bottom surface of the plate? Express your answer to two significant figures and include the appropriate units.

Answer:

Part a)

E = 8436.7 N/C

Part b)

E = 8436.7 N/C

Explanation:

Part a)

Electric field due to large sheet is given as

E = \frac{\sigma}{2\epsilon_0}

\sigma = \frac{Q}{A}

Q = -3.8 nC

A = \pi(0.09)^2

A = 0.025 m^2

\sigma = \frac{-3.8\times 10^{-9}}{0.025}

\sigma = -1.5 \times 10^{-7} C/m^2

now the electric field is given as

E = \frac{-1.5 \times 10^{-7}}{2(8.85 \times 10^{-12})}

E = 8436.7 N/C

Part b)

Now since the electric field is required at same distance on other side

so the field will remain same on other side of the plate

E = 8436.7 N/C

When storm clouds produce lightning and thunder, energy changes to energy and energy.
balandron [24]
When storm clouds produce lightening and thunder, then, potential energy changes into kinectic energy.

The clouds become negatively charged,and the ground is positively charged during a storm. So there creates a potential difference between the charged clouds and the ground. And when this becomes huge so much that it over comes the electrical insulation cover of air, the electrons jump to the ground.i.e. the potential energy changes into kinetic energy.

Draw a circuit that uses the resistors listed below as well as a 12V battery source. For your circuit, determine (a) the total r
Zepler [3.9K]

Answer: hello your questions lacks the required resistor values therefore i will provide a general answer using an example

answer : a) 14 ohms  b) 0.86 amps   c) 10.32 V

Explanation:

Assuming the resistors are : 3 ohms , 4 ohms and 5 ohms

Voltage source = 12V

<u>Assuming that the Resistors are in series </u>

<u>a) Determine Total resistance </u>

Req = R1 + R2 + R3

       = 3 + 4 + 5 = 14 ohms

<u>b) Total current </u>

Ieq = V / Req

      = 12 / 14 =  0.86 amps

<u>c) The Total Voltage over the entire system </u>

Vt = ∑ Voltage drops

    = ( 0.86 * 3 ) + ( 0.86 * 4 ) + ( 0.86 * 5 )

    = 10.32 V
