What is the Brønsted-Lowry base in this reaction: NH2−+CH3OH→NH3+CH3O−?(1 point)CH3O−cap c cap h sub 3 cap o raised to the negat
Fynjy0 [20]

In the reaction as follows: NH2- + CH3OH → NH3 + CH3O−, NH2- is the Brønsted-Lowry base.

BRØNSTED-LOWRY BASE:

  • According to Bronsted-Lowry definition of a base and acid, a base is substance that accepts an hydrogen ion or proton (H+) while an acid is a substance that donates a proton.

  • According to this reaction given as follows: NH2 + CH3OH → NH3+ CH3O-

  1. NH2- is a reactant that accepts a hydrogen ion (H+) to become NH3+
  2. NH3+CH3OH is a reactant that donates hydrogen ion (H+)

  • Since NH2- accepts a proton, this means that in the reaction as follows: NH2 + CH3OH → NH3 + CH3O−, NH2- is the Brønsted-Lowry base.

Hi! I'm on the last question of my homework and I'm stuck on it and was wondering if anyone could help me
Semmy [17]
I am not sure but this is what I think

This question uses the formula connecting mass, density and volume
Which is Density= Mass/Volume

Convert the mass in g
92.5 kg = 92,500g

7.87g/ml = 92,500/ Volume
Volume= 92,500/7.87
= 11,753.5 ml

Now since we have to give the answer in liters we can just divide by 1000 and get
11.75 litres

A sample of flammable liquid is placed into an enclosed cylinder which is then fitted with a movable piston. Initially the cylin
polet [3.4K]

Answer:

12.09 L

Explanation:

Step 1: Convert 826.1 mmHg to atm

We will use the conversion factor 760 mmHg = 1 atm.

826.1 mmHg × 1 atm/760 mmHg = 1.087 atm

Step 2: Convert 427.8 J to L.atm

We will use the conversion factor 101.3 J = 1 L.atm.

427.8 J × 1 L.atm/101.3 J = 4.223 L.atm

Step 3: Calculate the change in the volume

Assuming the work done (w) is 4.223 L.atm against a pressure (P) of 1.087 atm, the change in the volume is:

w = P × ΔV

ΔV = w/P

ΔV = 4.223 L.atm/1.087 atm = 3.885 L

Step 4: Calculate the final volume

V₂ = V₁ + ΔV

V₂ = 8.20 L + 3.885 L = 12.09 L

PCl3(g) + Cl2(g) ⇋ PCl5(g) Kc = 91.0 at 400 K. What is the [Cl2] at equilibrium if the initial concentrations were 0.24 M for PC
Dmitry_Shevchenko [17]

Answer:

[Cl₂] in equilibrium is 1.26 M

Explanation:

This is the equilibrium:

PCl₃(g) + Cl₂(g) ⇋ PCl₅(g)

Kc = 91

So let's analyse, all the process:

                PCl₃(g)        +        Cl₂(g)     ⇋        PCl₅(g)

Initially     0.24 M                 1.50M                 0.12 M

React           x                           x                         x

Some amount of compound has reacted during the process.

In equilibrium we have

              0.24 - x                  1.50 - x                  0.12 + x

As initially we have moles of product, in equilibrium we have to sum them.

Let's make the expression for Kc

Kc = [PCl₅] / [Cl₂] . [PCl₃]

91 = (0.12 + x) / (0.24 - x) ( 1.50 - x)

91 = (0.12 + x) / (0.36 - 0.24x - 1.5x + x²)

91 (0.36 - 0.24x - 1.5x + x²) = (0.12 + x)

32.76 - 158.34x + 91x² = 0.12 +x

32.64 - 159.34x + 91x² = 0

This a quadratic function:

a = 91; b= -159.34; c = 32.64

(-b +- √(b² - 4ac)) / 2a

Solution 1 = 1.5

Solution 2 = 0.23 (This is our value)

So [Cl₂] in equilibrium is 1.50 - 0.23 = 1.26 M
