In the scenario in which Dante looks up the names of the great lakes in his textbook and he scans them, and repeats them over and over again in his head while he pulls out a set of notecards to make flash cards he is using short-term memory and the prefrontal lobe. The prefrontal lobe is located at the front of the frontal lobe and is responsible for complex behaviors, including planning, and greatly contributes to personality development.
