Let's put it into the slope formula:

m= (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

5-(-13)/ 8-(-4)

Correct signs. (two negatives equal a positive)

5+13/ 8+4

18/12

Simplify.

9/6

3/2 or 1.5.

I hope this helps!

We can use y2-y1/x2-x1 to find the slope. Therefore, we have:
-5-(-13)/8-(-4). That gives us -5+13/8+4, or 8/12 = 2/3.
Hope this helps!

1. There are 78 sophomores at a school. Each is required to take at least one year of either chemistry or physics, but they may
SVETLANKA909090 [29]

We are given that there are a total of 78 students. If we set the following variables:

\begin{gathered} C=\text{students only in chemestry} \\ P=\text{students only in physics} \\ PC=\text{students in physics and chemistry} \end{gathered}

Then, the sum of all of these must be 78, that is:

C+P+PC=78

Since there are 15 in chemistry and physics and 47 in chemistry, we may replace that into the equation and we get:

47+P+15=78

Simplifying:

62+P=78

Now we solve for P by subtracting 62 on both sides:

\begin{gathered} 62-62+P=78-62 \\ P=16 \end{gathered}

Therefore, there are 16 students in physics

In the equation (m^5/6) (m^1/6)^7 = m^x , what is the value of x that makes the equation true?
vlabodo [156]

{m}^{ \frac{5}{6} }  \times (m {}^{ \frac{1}{6} } ) {}^{7 }  = m {}^{x}

m {}^{ \frac{5}{6} }  \times m {}^{ \frac{7}{6} }  = m {}^{x}

{m}^{ \frac{5 \times 7}{6 \times 6} }  =  {m}^{x}

\frac{35}{36}  = x

Kevin has $4.85 in nickels and dimes. If he has 34 fewer dimes than nickels, how many coins (nickels and dimes) does he have alt
pochemuha
.05n + .10d = 4.85
n - 34 = d
Substitute the second equation into the first equation and solve for n.
.05n + .10(n - 34) = 4.85
.05n + .10n - 3.4 = 4.85
combine like terms
.15n - 3.4 = 4.85
add 3.4 to both sides
.15n = 8.25
divide both sides by .15
n = 55
d = n - 34
d = 55 - 34
d = 21

CHECK
21 * .1 = 2.10
55 * .05 = 2.75
2.10 + 2.75 = 4.85

21 dimes and 55 nickels
