It was used to justify the racism, imperialism and political conservatism to discourage reforms. The theory says that peoples are subject subject to the Darwinian laws of natural selection just like plats and animals. The theory is  discredited now. According to the theory  upper class and wealthy aristocracy was the most valued class and the social status was a hereditary quality and that class division was a genetic factor.
