Unit rate is a rate that has a denominator of 1. In order to get the unit rate given the denominator is not 1, then unit rate is acquired by getting the equal ration with denominator 1. On the question, Letter A. 4 yd/carry, Letter B. 35 mi/1gal and Letter D. 3 cups per batch are unit rates.

How to do substitution
aniked [119]
Substitution is where you place a number instead of a letter. If you they give you a question let’s say “what is he value of x when x=5”
And he equation is
8x=40 (super easy equation but oh well)
So you “substitute” the x
So it will be
8*5=40
Hope this helped and I’m not sure if I made any sense at all but I tried

Can someone check my work, if it’s right? Any corrects made please comment below!
Eva8 [605]

f(g(x)) represents the amount of money Sonia earns by working for x hours.

g(x) tells us how many loaves Sonia can bake in x hours. So, for example, if she works for 10 hours, she can bake \sqrt{2\cdot10^3}\approx44 loaves of bread.

f(x) tells us how much money she earns for the number of loaves x sold. So, for example, if Sonia bakes 10 loaves of bread, then she earns 9\cdot10^2+1=901 (insert units of money).

The composite function f(g(x)) is really a function of time, not number of loaves. So if Sonia works for 10 hours, then she makes about 44 loaves of bread, and so would earn about 9\cdot44^2+1=17,425.
