Well, intuitively by inspection, we can see that the two lines are not parallel because their slopes are not equal, one "slants" more than the other and they will intersect at some point. Parallel lines never intersect. But you could calculate their slopes to confirm this...

m=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

mb=(1-3)/(5--5)

mb=-2/10

mb=-1/5

mg=(-4--2)/(0--4)

mg=-2/4

mg=-1/2

So mb does not equal mg, -1/5 does not equal -1/2, so they are not parallel because their slopes are not equal.

Use the following recipe to answer questions 1 through 4:
grandymaker [24]

Answer:

1. pounds (lb)

2. pints (pt)

3. teaspoon (tsp)

4. cups (c)

Step-by-step explanation:

US Standard Units

Liquid

  • Fluid Ounces (fl oz)
  • Cups (c)
  • Pints (pt)
  • Quarts (qt)
  • Gallons (gal)

128 fl oz = 16 cups = 8 pints = 4 quarts = 1 gallon

Mass

  • Ounces (oz)
  • Pounds (lb)
  • Tons (short ton)

32000 ounces = 2000 pounds = 1 ton

Solutions

1. The best US standard unit in which to measure pumpkin with a mass of 1.2 kg would be pounds (lb).

⇒ 1 kg ≈ 2.205 lb

⇒ 1.2 kg ≈ 1.2 × 2.205 = 2.65 lb

2. The best US standard unit in which to measure stock with a volume of 1.5 L would be pints (pt).

⇒ 1 L ≈ 2.133 pt

⇒ 1.5 L ≈ 1.5 × 2.113 = 3.17 pt

3. The best US standard unit in which to measure sugar of 5 mL would be teaspoon (tsp).

⇒ 5 mL = 5 g ≈ 1 teaspoon

4. The best US standard unit in which to measure yogurt with a volume of 0.25 L would be cups (c).

⇒ 1 L ≈ 4.167 c

⇒ 0.25 L ≈ 0.25 × 4.167 =  1.04 c

A random sample of 49 statistics examinations was taken. the average score, in the sample, was 84 with a variance of 12.25. the
tester [92]

Since in this case we are only using the variance of the sample and not the variance of the real population, therefore we use the t statistic. The formula for the confidence interval is:

CI = X ± t * s / sqrt(n)                      ---> 1

Where,

X = the sample mean = 84

t = the t score which is obtained in the standard distribution tables at 95% confidence level

s = sample variance = 12.25

n = number of samples = 49

From the table at 95% confidence interval and degrees of freedom of 48 (DOF = n -1), the value of t is around:

t = 1.68

Therefore substituting the given values to equation 1:

CI = 84 ± 1.68 * 12.25 / sqrt(49)

CI = 84 ± 2.94

CI = 81.06, 86.94

Therefore at 95% confidence level, the scores is from 81 to 87.
