Simplify the equation. All the negative signs are making my head whirl, and to answer that equation and find the value of x, you'd have to simplify it until it can't be simplified any further. So the equation is :

-3x - ( - 1 - 6x ) = -2 ( x - 8)

Simplify the negative signs. Negative and a negative make a positive. Let's simplify this all the way through.

-3x + 1 + 6x = -2x + 18
3x + 1 = -2x + 18

Now that we've simplified it as much as we possibly could, we try and isolate the variable by subtracting and adding what's necessary. In other words, inverse operations.

3x = -2x + 17

So I decided to subtract one from each side, leaving the side with 3x with nothing but the 3. Now, we're going to subtract -2x, because there's more than one number with an x value attached.

5x = 17

We divide to isolate the variable. 17 ÷ 5 = 3.4.

x = 3.4

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

i) 1

ii) see attached

iii) as x goes from 0 to 2, y decreases parabolically from 1 to an acme at -3

iv) y = (x - 2)² - 3

v) -3 < t < 1

if t < -3 no intersection occurs between y = t and y = (x - 2)² - 3

if t = -3, y = t intersects the curve at only one point, (2, -3)

if -3 < t < 1 there exist two intersecting points with positive x values

if t = 1 there exist only one positive x value intersection as the other is at (0, 1) and 0 is neither positive nor negative.

if t > 1 there is one positive x value intersection and one negative x value intersection.

Determine equation of a line passing through a point (5,-3) with and undefined slope
avanturin [10]
Slope is calculate using the following equation:
slope = (y2-y1) / (x2-x1)
since the slope is undefined, therefore, the denominator is equal to zero, which means that x2 = x1.

Based on this, the only curves with undefined slopes are the curves with equation: x = constant

Therefore, equation of a line passing through a point (5,-3) with and undefined slope is x = 5
