Why is the destruction of a natural environment a risk to the survival of humans?
OLga [1]

Answer:

Destruction of a natural environment is a big threat to the humanity. With the destruction of forests, the wild life is becoming extinct. Lesser number of trees means more harmful gases to be transferred to the ozone layer. Without the ozone layer, the survival of humans on the Earth will be impossible.

If plant or animals become extinct or endangered from a natural environment, this will mean lesser food for the humans. There will be increased competition for food and other resources.

How are the tortoises that Darwin observed on the Galápagos Islands similar to the anoles that losos studied
yawa3891 [41]

Both of them (tortoises and anoles) represent examples of evolution observed by different scientist.

Darwin proposed that animals such as Galapagos tortoises changed as they adapted to new environments and this observation led to his theory of evolution by natural selection.

On the other hand, Losos observations were anoles of the Caribbean islands. He noticed that physical characteristics of those animals changed in response to their environment change. The traits that changed were the ones that affect the survival of anoles. Losos also concluded that the similar lizards that are not closely related, but were similar evolved separately in response to their environment. This is known as convergent evolution.

Why are meerkats affected by the plant population?
Radda [10]

Answer:

They largely depend on it for survival as meerkats are omnivores.

Explanation:

The combined effects of hotter and drier summers and fewer plants would threaten the persistence of the meerkat population. Since they eat plants and other living bugs that usually hang out in plant-abundant areas, their [meerkats] survival depends on the range of plants near them.

How can interactions between alleles genes and the environment affect an organism's traits?
Nataly_w [17]
Genes code for proteins. That way they determine biological structures and functions. Besides genes, the environment has the great impact on the structure of an organism. Alleles and genes will give a trait, but the environment can affect it. For example, alleles that are responsible for height will give a person some average height. But if the person begins to train basketball at the early age (during growth), the person will overcome the average height. This is the effect of the environment and not genes. The other example is that if a person lives in a sunny region, the person will be tan.
